• What will our group's CGI U 2010 Commitment to Action be? What is our group's plan to carry out this commitment?

The name of our commitment is “I BLOG for Human Rights”. We commit ourselves to promote the 30 articles included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, inform the Dominican civil society about which are the rights that they possess and how to defend them in determined situations. Our plan consists on creating a series of campaigns and conferences, where different sectors of the Dominican society will share their diverse points of view regarding human rights. These conferences will be held in different institutions around the national territory. On that same sense, these conferences and dialogues will be complemented with the diffusion of information through social web media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Hi5, MySpace, and blogs): an activity that will be promoted with the government’s initiative of closing that digital gap that exists in our country. In addition, we plan on creating a publication (magazine) that will describe each human right, the importance of it, and how to defend it in our country, that will serve as a guide or manual for each citizen. The main purpose of our commitment is to educate and inform the Dominican population in cases such as, domestic violence, the violation of the student’s rights, and all the basics of any kind of discrimination and/or aggression of their fundamental rights, where they have to present their reclaims, what do they have to do, and how they have to act to ensure their safety.
